It can be hard finding the right place that meets your needs and criteria. This may be a sign that you should build your own home. Building your own home offers so much versatility and customization. Since it’s such a big step, you should really make sure you're ready for the challenge.   ## You're Just at That Point in Your Life There comes a time in your life when you just need change and you need to move on, literally. Maybe your kids are out of the house or you're getting close to retirement. Now might be the time to build the home of dreams. Although it can be a huge undertaking, building your own home may be just what you need. You can design it to meet your needs, whether you want to include special features that can help you as you get older or want extra space for when the grandkids come.   ## You’re Bored Another sign that it's time for you to build your own home is that you're bored or have outgrown the one where you currently reside. There are many reasons why someone could become bored with their home. It could be the location or maybe your family has outgrown the property? According to [Gateway Access Realty](https://www.gatewayaccessrealty.com/is-your-home-feeling-old-hat-you-may-want-to-change-that), boredom could be a sure sign that you're done with your home. The environment you live in can have a profound impact on your mood and mental health, so it’s important you live in a place where you feel comfortable and happy.   ## The Idea of a New Neighborhood Appeals to You According to [Strong Towns](https://www.strongtowns.org/journal/2019/6/4/change-is-a-constant-in-most-neighborhoods), neighborhoods can change as the years go by. People move in and out, which can alter the dynamic of the neighborhood. A change of scenery and atmosphere may be something you need too. One of the greatest advantages of building your dream house is that you can do it anywhere that you please. Whether you prefer the city, the suburbs, or out the country, the possibilities are endless. Everyone needs a little change in their life at some point. Moving somewhere new may just be the change you need. There is always the option of buying a home on the market, but you can also build your own home. Although it can require extensive planning and thought, building the home of your dreams may be the best option if you’re ready for something new. **Ready to move?
