Carolina Custom Homes’ Building Process
Maybe you’re already familiar with the home-buying process or maybe you’re considering purchasing or building your first home. From working with real estate agents and custom home builders to simply choosing a floor plan, the whole process can seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be.
Building a modular home typically takes 4-6 months to complete, but what happens before we start, what’s going on during the building process, and what can you expect when it’s time to move? Here’s what to plan from the homebuilding process when you partner with Carolina Custom Homes.
Choosing (& getting) your land.
Whether you’re buying land, already own the land on which you’d like to build, or you want to include purchasing land as part of your partnership with Carolina Custom Homes, it’s best to have an idea of where you want to build before we start on your home.
Designing a floor plan.
Shop our floor plans, customize your favorite, or we can work with you to design and construct your home plan from scratch.
Nailing down the numbers.
Once you’ve decided on all of your customizations, like styles, appliances, and upgrades, you’ll send your final choices to your builder to get your final pricing quotes. Our team will be able to suggest a variety of upgrades and features based on your preferences, lifestyle, and budget.
Building your dream home.
We’ll start out by building modules of your soon-to-be-home in a climate-controlled factory setting here at our facility. While our team is building your home offsite, we’ll also start on any land prep, like clearing and grading the lot for your home.
Putting it all together.
Once the early stages of the building process are complete, we’ll move the components of your house to your lot and complete the building process on-site. This is one of the perks of building a modular home since the modules are built off-site, your progress won’t be held back by typical weather and construction delays.

Making your new house move-in-ready.
Once it’s all put together, we’ll connect your utilities, add additional siding, and install all of your appliances and fixtures. Once we polish off the finishing touches, you’re ready to move in.
Moving in!
This is where the magic happens. It’s time to turn your new house into your dream home. You’ve got the perfect floor plan, top notch appliances, and your favorite paints and finishes, so now it’s time to fill it with your belongings and flex your interior design skills.
